if i wanted cold weather i'd move to pluto...

it's not so much that i hate winter... but why does it have to be so cold?

couldn't it be slightly chilly instead?

oh well, it does make me appreciate summer a lot more. my only real complaint with summer is that my poor, little computer gets hot too. isn't that sad? (of course it is!)

lah.

any who, i thought i'd share with the entire world my new and most favorite winter foodstuff!

it's probably not new, though i discovered it quite by accident (as i like to experiment). regardless, it's quite tasty and filling.

the best part is, it's really simple!

just fix whatever your favorite flavor ramen is (maybe with a little extra water), and then add instant mashed potatoes (potato flakes).

yes, i know, i are weird.

i've made it a few different ways, from: noodley-potatoes to potatoey-noodles (depends on the amount of potato flakes), and it's always yummy.

~*~

speaking of yummy foodstuffs, i got some pots and pans for xmas. so now i can cook even more! (providing i have something to cook, that is.)

~*~

this is a short post, but probably better than nothing... maybe?

lah!

be good little blog!

What's your favourite Ramen? I use to eat Sapporo Ichiban only and then started eating Shin Ramen but now they both make me sick. Any suggestions?! Thanks. Anonymous dude.

favorite ramen?

well, where i live i'm stuck with "instant"; so no super-special ramen here!

there are only two flavors of instant ramen seasoning that i'll eat: oriental and teriyaki.

my favorite, however, would be when i use my own spices:

cook-able ingredients:
ground ginger, ground chile pepper (thai or korean), roasted/crushed garlic

the following ingredients are added to the bowl before the noodles and broth:
low-sodium soy sauce
roasted sesame seeds
roasted seaweed (surprisingly, there is seaweed available that tastes like seaweed, and not sea critters. isn't that nice?)

my second favorite would be miso. a pack of instant miso is good for two or three bowls of ramen (depends on the packet size, of course). i forget the brand name, but the kind i use has seaweed and tofu in it.

based on my silly potato-noodles, about half a packet of oriental seasoning is enough... teriyaki potatoes are rather disturbing.

...and so ends another episode of "this is your ramen"; tune in next time when we teach you how to pronounce ramen like an ignorant american.

Hmmm...your recipes are a little too daring. I like my ramen straight out of the pack with no additions usually. I got a recommendation for a new Ramen so as soon as I'm depleted of my Sapporo stock, I'm going to try that...can't remember the name of it though...

so, ummm... no pork? no beef? no chicken? not even fishies? :(

The only time I eat ramen is at work. They keep a few packs handy for those who need to work late. It's a cheap way to convince us that we have everything we need at the office and that there is thus no reason to stop working and go home.

I can picture potato flakes and ramen being fun. But not with miso. I hate miso. *shudders*

i'm a vegetabletarian, so no critter flavors for me!

:P

my recipes are daring?

if you actually read the ingredients for the flavor packets, you'll realize that i use considerably less. though they might be more spicy than what you're used to.

based on my experience, even small amounts of hot peppers can help regulate and/or increase your metabolism... which also helps to keep you warm. since i don't have any heat in my room, i tend to eat more spicy foods in winter.

~*~

in case you're unaware, miso is available in hundreds of flavors (in japan, at least)... kind of like soy sauce.

i like miso to an extent, so long as it's diluted heavily, as it tends to be very salty... it's not that i hate salt, but i never actually cook with it. kind of pointless, since practically everything else has trace amounts included.

~*~

in other news: one of the things i've been researching lately is salt... and the silly controversy as to whether it's really a necessary part of a human critter's diet.

maybe i'll post a bloGGie on it?

lah. might be fun?
