you believe that, right?

do you know how easy it is to get caught up in web browsing?

i started off by looking up some information on china's involvement in world war one, and ended up on some overly-informative site that had links to practically anything government related.

i looked around that site for a while and eventually found my way to the japanese ministry of foreign affairs...

they have an amazing amount of things in real english, as opposed to engrish or worse.

i found a most entertaining site, with lots and lots of graphics. it was a personal page, and either their web host really sucks or it's super popular. while i was browsing through some nifty japanese postcards i got a message saying that the site had been temporarily suspended due to excessive bandwidth usage. is mean, yes?

hope it wasn't my fault.

the more i look around on you tube, the more i feel like i'd never leave if given the choice.

is sad really.

it's amazing what some people will upload. while a lot of it is just silly, there are a whole lot of music videos on there. even some i hadn't seen before.

it's not that i try to keep up with all the latest and greatest asian videos, (i tried once, and it didn't turn out well) but i do attempt to look for videos and things by certain artists. occasionally i even find an artist that isn't entirely annoying - that was previously unknown to my berry own self.

is great, yes?

i'm trying to be wordy, in case you couldn't tell... at all... even a little bit.

:P

the female parental unit got me a bag of choczels.

ever heard of them?

yeah, me either. they're from the dollar store, go figure.

all things considered, they're not that bad, just kind of salty.

and guess what, they're made by toad-ally snax.

isn't that just the most bestest name?

they even have their own web site, and it's very professional even. not.

guess what i learned about today...

trigrams!

yay me!

trigram n. - a figure composed of three solid or interrupted parallel lines, especially as used in chinese philosophy or divination according to the i-ching.

it's not that i have never seen a trigram before, it's just that i had no clue as to what they were.

for some odd reason the i-ching isn't in the top ten list of things to teach american eGGies.

since i REALLY have no clue as to how to type a trigram in and get it to show up in my lil' bloGGie, i'll make another picture...

trigrams

and here's a most nifty example of trigrams, that i had wondered about for quite a while. i'm fairly certain that someone told me what the symbols meant, though i don't believe they ever told me exactly what they were. of course, i'm sure they're called different things in other languages.

korean flag

once again, european-based educational systems make me sick.

maybe it's just because of where i live, though i truly doubt it, but the only way i will ever be able to take classes in asian history, culture, language, etc. is through university.

they don't offer those classes to anyone not of college age.

why?

even then, the closest university to offer SOME of the classes i'd like to take is over a 100 miles away.

occasionally i look around at university web sites, and see what they have to offer. it seems that only major metropolitan cities have what i'm looking for. which sucks, since i doubt i'd be able to tolerate being in such close proximity to so many people.

there are quite a few schools in canada and alaska that offer what i want, too bad i really hate snow.

hawaii has some good schools, as does australia.

i even looked into taking some classes in japan and/or korea. while that sounds like fun, there's not much hope of me being able to afford it.

maybe somebody will get hit in the head with an asteroid and leave me bazillions of dollars in their will?

stranger things have happened.

you know what seems to be a REALLY common theme in anime/manga?

a boy and a girl (though not related), usually still in high school, living under the same roof, with NO parental supervision. and more often than not, the boy is the object of affection for no less than five girls (including the girl he happens to be co-habitating with).

i'm kind of curious as to what kind of people write these stories, and when they're due for parole.

don't get me wrong, some of the stories can be rather amusing, though if it leans more towards the dramatic, there will always be those that have to suffer emotionally at some point.

that's life i guess, but the situation itself is entirely ridiculous.

i guess a lot of fantasies get played out in anime/manga, though i do wish they could come up with a much better plotline. it's getting old really fast.

i keep hoping that, at some point, mecha anime will lose its appeal, and will never see the light of day again.

wouldn't that be great?

it'll never happen, i do realize that, but it is one of my own little fantasies.

i got a bit more writing done the other day.

isn't that great?

i imagine it will take me approximately a 1000 years to finish any one of my stories.

it's not that i'm that slow, but considering that i'm writing them for myself, sometimes it's more fun to just imagine the story, as opposed to writing it down.

oh well...

be good lil' blog!
